COMPANIES WITH A HEART!

For the people who are about to start a new venture or leading a change in a old venture, for the people who think they can make a quick profit copying somebody else idea and run away without leaving much to the community. For the veteran business people who think they now have all the experience to reap the reward but they have not changed the model to a participation economy yet, for the one who are lost and do not know what to do anymore, for the one who have not joined the conversation yet for the smart guys that think profit first, that look at the numbers first and make their decisions based on them.... My passionate advise goes to you: Make your company a company with a heart. Start listening what matters to the people around you, free your emotions. In this post I will be talking about the thoughts that I am experiencing with Giapo my first company with a heart. Not so long ago, I realized that companies in today's world need different qualities to be successful. A company has a hearth when culture, inspirations, openness, eager to change for the better and for the community are at the center of what they do. When money is not the only currency and emotions are gold. A successful company with a heart is not more just about the excellent products, the fantastic design, the amazing customer service, the phenomenal location, these are all granted, they must be all the best of the best... companies need to have a emotions, in their actions they need to become inspirational for others while doing something good for the community. It is about challenging the status quo and changing it for the good. My friend, mentor and inspirational guide Kevin Roberts from Saatchi & Saatchi opened me to a new scenario, a few years ago, he coined a new word "Lovemarks" and wrote two books about it, "Lovemarks" and "The lovemarks effect." Kevin says that Brands are all about respect.. but to be a lovemark instead he says you need to have high respect and high love from the consumers... And he was spot on!! Today, more than ever, the whole game is played on how we gain that high love status..... and if you think there are shortcuts to it.. this post is for you !! Companies with a heart have a different definition from Lovemarks though. To the concept of Lovemark, I add that Companies with a heart need to aspire to become more than a supply point of whatever awesome they already sell. Consequently, it is required that companies play an active role in changing the world for the better. They will then be looked with respect for the products they sell and loved liked like a God for what they do. Companies have to move from the mere terrestrial act of doing things for profit to a more emotional subtle one of doing things for the well-being of the community they insist in. Companies are part of a community and they must play an active "social" role to make that community a better one. This is what matters. Everything else gets forgotten. Customers will therefore be inspired by the companies who act for them and with them. At this stage, my question is: What your company is doing for your community, for your people, for the world at large to make it a better one? Giving for granted that your products are the best in the world, the answer to my question will define how big is the heart of your company, how much love will you give and consequently how much you shall receive back. The heart cannot be outsourced and your consultants does not know how to help. They do not know what your heart says. That's why I also do not recommend you to do anything that is not original and authentic, copying someone else's ideas will not work. Before you make a business plan, get the vision on how you are going to change the world and like it or not, a new tribe will create and customers/fans/followers will be looking for you without you looking for them yet. Companies with a heart have the dream to make this world a better one not for their own sake, but for the community they live in. Companies have to be the amplifier of what their managers, owners, shareholder are. And no conflicts are possible. Moral and ethics have never been so close to business before. No Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide type of situation is possible anymore, people want to know who is behind what.. and why ..... Successful "companies with a hearth are not just for profit" they share their success in the community with L O V E. This is how normal profit centric companies become something more intense and with a human touch. Does your company have a heart? I have personally started 2 projects. 1) Eat Safe banning Trans-fat for Kiwi. It is a movement we are setting up now. We have the goal to ban trans fat from New Zealand by the end of 2010. 2) Giapo loves Starship program. Where each drawing of the Giapo Carachters, done in the shop by you, will be worth a donation of $2 for the starship Hospital In Auckland. Stay tuned. P.S.: Besides for This Christams, there will be big surprises for all the kids at Starship.

Waiwera and Giapo

For those of you looking for the best water in the world, look no further, we have done the hard work for you. Waiwera water is the best.
In searching to make the best sorbet in the world, we at giapo have been doing our sorbets testing different mineral waters.
We can say that we have tested all the other mineral waters on the market, we read and analyzed their labels and decided independently to go Waiwera
as it was better than any other.  We have also chosen Waiwera because it is a Kiwi thing, made in New Zealand by kiwis, and it matches greatly our love for the New Zealand spirit, which is natural and pure.  If you did not know, Waiwera Water is bottled at source, right there in Waiwera where more than 1500 metres beneath soil there is an aquifer containing the most pure water in the world,  far far away from any contamination. I am going to pay visit with our troupe of the Giapo's Way, some time soon, where will be filming a small documentary on how the water is sourced and bottled. Until yesterday, we have been buying Waiwera at the Supermarket, but thanks to Mrs. Pauline Stockhausen  and the team at Waiwera, the water is now delivered straight to our kitchen, so I do not have to carry the heavy weight anymore...  Waiwera will be also sold at Giapo in bottles of 350 ml sparkling and still.

Love Giapo Love Waiwera.

Giapo is on iPhone

And now we are on iPhone as well!!!

Giapo is streaming live on your iPhone and Ipod thanks to USTREAM.

To get the stream, you just need to go to Apple Store on your device, search for ustream and download "ustream viewing application". Once you are there, click the search button, and type the magic 5 letters: giapo. The giapo live show channel will come up and you are fully updated with our shop.

It was not a straightforward thing to get giapo live on Iphone but we got it.

Basically, once you have your account set up with Ustream and you have your own channel.... you need to send an email to networks@ustream.tv with the link on your channel and your username asking permission to get your channel included in their iphone application.

They try to make it a bit hard to get you on iPhone because of the Apple and Ustream 's stringent view about broadcasting nudity or any kind vulgar content, including breach of copyright laws.

If you feel that your stream meets this criteria, do not hesitate to email
networks@ustream.tv , the lady who answered me was nice, with your username, a link to your stream, and a
description of your average broadcast.
